自主制作映画の上映会などで好評を得てDVD化された、新海誠監督の自主制作によるSFラブストーリー・アニメーション。21世紀の半ば、国連宇宙軍のロボット・パイロットに選ばれ、宇宙へ飛び立っていった中学生の少女・美加子（武藤寿美）は、地球に残る同級生の昇（鈴木千尋）と携帯メールで彼女と連絡を取り合うが、距離が離れるにつれて互いのメールが届く時間も長くなっていく…。ピュアな恋愛とSF的な要素が奇妙なバランスでミックスしながら、不思議で独特の世界観を醸し出す。個人制作アニメとしての技術レベルも相当に高いが、それ以上に作り手の熱意そのものが作品の質に大いに貢献しているともいえよう。これから映像制作に挑もうとしている若い世代にも希望を与えてくれるであろう作品である。（増當竜也）
